Fine Dust Pollution in South Korea Worse than Ever

by - January 14, 2019

South Korea continues to suffer from low air quality due to the persistent presence of fine dust. Visibility in Seoul is about 2 km -- 1/10th of the visibility on a bright day. The rest of the country has a visibility range within 5 km.

The concentration of fine dust in Seoul is 130 micrograms and 167 in Yeoju, which far exceeds the already dangerous 76 micrograms. (35-75 micrograms is unhealthy; >76 is very unhealthy.) This is 5-6 times greater than normal.

Air conditions should continue to improve as the days proceed.

[3206, -338] What's scarier than the fine dust from China is the failure to mention the particles containing fatal carcinogens, and the fact that "Misfortune" Moon [tr: Moon "Jaeang" is a nickname for Moon Jaein. "Jaeang" is a word meaning disaster, etc.] continues to sit on his hands and do nothing to counteract it. It must be asked if this is what one would consider "leading a nation"?
RE: [+5, -78] 80% of the fine dust is not from China but from the exhaust coming out of the cars in our country. It's better to stop worrying about China and instead focus on managing our own country.
RE: [12, -1] Things haven't been good for an entire month now. Do we need to emigrate?
RE: [10, -1] I have allergies, and as of last night my nose is stopped up and I can't even breathe. I wish I could blow my nose, but my nasal passages are swollen and I'm so congested it's driving me crazy. What's worse is that I was wearing a mask all day.
RE: [45, -31] So what were you doing when Park Geun Hye was president? Are you also one of those morons who thinks the fine dust is from cooking mackerel? [tr: Back sometime in 2016, the press misinterpreted mackerel as the cause for fine dust based on a report from the government.]
RE: [18, -31] What does the fine dust have to do with government??? If we're talking about eco-friendly measures, it's not like you should be picking the money-obsessed conservative party.
RE: [10, -2] No matter what he says about it, it will make headlines and his approval rating will go down, so whether citizens are afflicted or not, he's wise enough to look away and keep his mouth closed.

[1446, -40] If we can't get through to China, isn't it diplomatic to in the very least lean on the US for influence?
RE: [19, -26] The biggest problem is that regardless of who is president, in the future the fine dust will just get worse!!!
RE: [19, -25] Well, Park Geun Hye said that you shouldn't be cooking mackerel, right~~ Whoever's out there eating it, turn yourself in!!
RE: [53, -4] The problem is that Trump already dislikes Moon Jaein, so that's a no go. We've also become distant with Japan's Abe... We're international outcasts.
RE: [3, -2] Why would America help usㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋWhat are you talking about

[1143, -90] A government that came into power through public sentiment and now ignores public sentiment
RE: [11, -3] Super "Misfortune" Moon who can't resolve the issue with the fine dust! People who voted for "Misfortune" Moon, please reflect.

[462, -21] It's even written in our history books about how people died during the Great Smog of London. Since it's a natural disaster, I don't know if the point is that it couldn't be helped.
RE: [33, 0] The funny thing is that the fine dust ISN'T a natural disaster...
RE: [13, -2] We really will die if it goes on like this... It keeps getting worse as the days pass, and it's not like we're in the situation where we can all just emigrate.
RE: [6, 0] I also somehow feel as if something like that will happen...

[290, -3] If you're not completely broke, please don't buy the Xiaomi air purifier. I saw Xiaomi had gone up in the real-time search and I freaked out.
RE: [31, -1] The more people buy Xiaomi, the worse the fine dust in our country gets. Please don't buy Xiaomi.

[110, -6] Mr. President, is this the society people are meant to live in? Is there even one thing that has improved since changing parties? I'm really curious~ What are you even doing?
